CRONICLES OF A SMALL PROJECT'S EVOLUTION INTO A GAME OR A RIVETING TRAILER... OR BOTH?! COME ALONG AS I NAVIGATE THIS JOURNEY

Chapter 2

Hey there friends!

Firstly, let me kick things off by extending a heartfelt apology for the recent silence on this page. The truth is, the work behind the scenes on Project Orange here has been relentless, especially when focusing on planning, thinking, sketching those core mechanics that form the beating heart of our project. The journey hasn't been without its hurdles, and as this isn't my full-time gig, finding that delicate balance can be quite the challenge at times.

Despite the occasional roadblock, the project’s focus is slowly crystallizing into something more significant than I initially envisioned (somebody, please intervene before it becomes a behemoth!).

Prioritizing the core of the game is crucial for the growing scope. While I imagine a grand multiplayer experience, I'm keen on ensuring that the mechanics for a solo player are just as robust—starting small to build something that, first of all, works and that's fun.

Prototyping

Testing some procedural ways of scaling the world. Gotta start somewhere :).

Envisioning the bigger picture, alongside a video teaser, I'm excited about the potential for a multiplayer experience. However, my current focus is on building a solid foundation with the mechanics for a solo player, maintaining a more intimate scale until everything is finely tuned.

Beginning with the world and staying true to the envisioned style, I'm currently crafting a small ugly prototype with the fundamental mechanics in place. The journey has been a process of testing different workflows for assets, and I believe I've found the sweet spot. Now, it's all about diving into the prototyping phase.

Exciting news awaits! I'm thrilled to announce plans to start streaming my development process on Twitch for an hour or two every 3-4 days. This not only provides a platform for us to solve problems together quickly but also serves as a structured schedule for myself to ensure progress doesn't stall.

Keep an eye out on my social media platforms in the upcoming weeks for more details (yes, it's happening soon!).

I genuinely hope you're as eager about this journey as I am and look forward to having you join me on Twitch. In the meantime, feel free to check out my Twitch channel.

Who knows, we might even squeeze in some gaming sessions together once in a while 😎.

A couple of more screenshots below, it goes without saying that this is a super easy work in progress stuff and IT WILL change:
